Timothy J. Potter: President
The idea and vision of His Rod & Staff began with Timothy, shortly after the passing of two of his three sisters in 2017. He took a look at his life and although he was satisfied with it, he began asking himself what more could he do. And the answer was to focus more on spreading the Gospel of Christ.
Timothy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. In addition, he has an extensive background in management; over 15 years in retail and 7 years on a corporate level of hospice care.
Active in his church (Northside Baptist in Newnan), he currently serves on the finance committee. As well as working with children as a Sunday school teacher and as a leader in the Awana program. He and his wife, Janie are also the Drama Team directors.
Of all the roles and positions that Timothy has served in over the years; his two favorites are being a husband to Janie and a grandpa to Colton and Emerson.

She has a wide variety of experience from her past careers in the banking industry, home childcare, retail, food service with the state prison system and assisted living.
Her greatest joy, prior to her current position as Granny came from her career in home health. She has always considered reaching out to the elderly, providing loving care and support while at the same time learning from their life stories to be an honor and a privilege.

She relocated to Atlanta with her loving husband Fred to whom she has been married to for 16 years. She has a daughter Tina and 5 grandchildren. After losing her siblings and the passing of her son Vaughn in April 2010, she finally accepted her calling into full-time ministry after working in Corporate America and Wall Street for 35 years.
She serves as an Associate Minister at New Shield of Faith Christian Ministries. She received her degree in Leadership, Theology and Religious Studies at Beulah Heights University. She is a 26-year cancer survivor who is the founder and director of the Christ Over Cancer Foundation in memory of her sister who passed away from breast and brain cancer.
Thelma says that she is an example of God’s keeping power. Life will give you some extenuating circumstances that you may not agree with but as long as you have Jesus on your side you will be empowered to stand. God sparks something on the inside of you that you just can’t ignore. There is nothing more powerful than the word of God in her life, nothing more precious than His love, and nothing more important than her relationship with God. After understanding those 3 things, everything else just falls into place.
